Total Confusion is a Waltzer with a very Colourful history; after all, not all rides can boast 12 owners and have been identified as 3 different rides. First came a Swoop, built by Orton & Spooner for Jack Patching back in 1936. The ride ultimately failed to impress its target customers and was sold 2 years later, in 1938, to James Collins, whose first order of business was to have it converted to a more traditional ARK ride. 10 years later, in 1948, Jack C Proctor owned the ride, but later the same year he sold it to Marrie England. The machine continued to change hands at regular intervals, with Basil Drake from 1959 to 1962, Charlie Beach from 1963 to 1969, and J Smith from 1969 becoming owners numbers 5, 6 & 7. Basil was to have a 2nd stint as owner until he sold it to Glen Remblance in 1985; Glen sold it to Rob Summers in 1995. Glens ownership lasted less than a year, and the Waltzer became Jimmy Deans property in 1996. However, after reassessing his portfolio, Jimmy decided to sell all his large rides, and this machine was picked up by Joe Neal
