Extra Info

Built as a Speedway for Pat Collins by Orton & Spooner sometime in the early 1930s, & sold to the Kursaal Amusement Park in 1943. Kursaal removed the ride in 1949, and by 1950 the machine was travelling with George A . Smith. With the decline of the market for Speedway rides due to so many being built, George converted his to a Waltzer in 1958. In 1970, Walter Bates purchased the Waltzer and operated it for 8 years until it was sold to the Whiting family in 1978. So far, the Waltzer is on its 3rd generation of ownership within the family with Jimmy Whiting, Jamie Whiting and now James Whiting all having operated the ride
