Built by Safeco and first opened by James Cox in July 1999, the ride carries the product name of Grasshopper. In March 2008, James Rogers took ownership of the machine; however, this only lasted 2 years, as George Burrow jnr purchased the ride in March, 2010. During George Burrow Jnr Ownership the ride was renamed for 2 summer seasons, as it was used in the Nottingham Summer Beach run by Mellors, it was changed to Crazy Wave as it felt this name had more of a summer theme to it. The ride has since returned to its original name of Jump & Smile
