The Dorman Brothers Waltzer is one of Britains best-known travelling Waltzers and has a history stretching back to 1934. Built by Orton & Spooner as an Ark/Speedway ride, it originally featured motorcycle-style cars before being converted into a Waltzer during the 1990s. Over the decades, it travelled with several well-known showmen, including Taylor Brothers (1934 - 1980), William Albert Taylor(1980 - 1980), John Sharland & Michael Collins (1980 - 1982), Tom Harniess(1982 - 1987), Jim Patterson(1988 - 1992), Thomas Peel(1993 - 1993), Tim Gallegher(1994 - 1996), and later operated at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach under Malcolm Dixon. In 2003, the ride was purchased by Dorman Brothers, who completely restored and refurbished it, preserving its traditional artwork, lighting, and classic fairground character. Today it remains one of the finest examples of a historic British travelling Waltzer, continuing the Dorman familys commitment to preserving Britains fairground heritage while delighting visitors at steam rallies, heritage events, and fairs across the country.
